DID YOU REALIZE...?

• ... that America spends four times as much on healthcare as on defense,
and over twice as much per capita on healthcare as other industrialized countries?
And still we rank very low among nations in health of our citizens!

• ... that commercial health insurers seek out the healthiest populations to cover,
shutting out those most need of care?

• ... that of 25 companies surveyed in 2000, the average annual CEO compensation was
$8 million? The top earner got over $54 million, plus stock options worth many
millions of dollars more..

• ... that during the 105th Congress (1997-1998), total reported lobbying expenditures
were $2.69 billion, or $5 million per congressman?

• ... that the typical pharmaceutical company spends about 30% of its income on
marketing and promotion, but only 12% on research and development?
And that's not counting taxpayer supported research on which they depend,
for which they make us pay again!
